East Village City Council Results: Carlina Rivera Wins Nomination In Crowded Race
Carlina Rivera, the former Rosie Mendez staffer, has nabbed the Democratic nomination for the District 2 City Council seat.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Carlina Rivera has been elected as the Democratic nominee for the District 2 City Council seat, pulling ahead of a wide-open field, according to the AP's election results.
The AP called the race for the Democratic nominee for District 2 shortly after the polls closed. According to early results, Rivera secured the nomination with 64 percent of the vote.
As a nominee, Rivera is currently facing an uncontested race to represent neighborhoods including parts of the East Village, the Lower East Side and Gramercy in City Council.
