Woman Kicked To Ground And Robbed In East Village, Police Say

Police are searching for two men who they say kicked a woman to the ground before robbing her.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Two men attacked a 62-year-old woman earlier this month, kicking her to the ground and running away with her purse, police said.

Investigators are now searching for the two men, both of whom are believed to be in their 20s. Police said the men, who have not been identified, were on East Fifth Street near Avenue C on Aug. 19 when they began following the woman. At about 8 p.m. that night, the men kicked her to the ground and then ran away with her purse, the NYPD said in a statement. The woman suffered bruising and swelling, police said.

Officers are still searching for both men as of Tuesday afternoon, when they released surveillance photos of the men suspected in the attack. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
