East Village Fire Injures Two: Fire Department

A fire at an East Village building has injured two people, a department spokesman says.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A fire in the East Village injured two people on Tuesday afternoon, according to the fire department.

Firefighters responded to a building fire at 86 E 10th St. at about 1 p.m., a fire department spokesman told Patch. He said there were two reported injuries being evaluated on the scene. The severity of the injuries is unknown.

The fire is thought to have started on the third or fourth floor of the building, according to the department spokesman. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

About 60 fire and EMS personnel were on scene at of 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday working to extinguish the blaze, the fire department said.
