The Indian restaurant, located at 175 Avenue B, shuttered this week after a wage lawsuit filed against Babu Ji's owners was amended with new allegations. The latest version of the lawsuit accuses co-owner Jessi Singh of making "threatening" statements to employees who complained about their wages.
A message posted on the restaurant's website says: "Babu Ji NYC is taking a break. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. We look forward to seeing you again soon." A phone call and an email sent to Babu Ji Patch were not returned. We'll update this post if we hear back from them. Eater New York, which first wrote about the eatery's closure, reported that staffers were told not to go to work on Thursday evening because of its quick closure.
