East Village's Superiority Burger Chef Named James Beard Finalist

Superiority Burger's Brooks Headley was named a James Beard finalist for best chef in New York City.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Chef Brooks Headley of Superiority Burger was named a James Beard finalist for best chef in New York Wednesday.

The 300-square-foot veggie burger spot was known for its pop-ups before the restaurant opened up in the East Village in 2015.

Headley of the East Village vegetarian eatery, located at 430 East Ninth St., was named among 20 semi-finalists in New York City that were narrowed down to five this week.

Headley was named a finalist alongside chefs of Atla, Momofuku Ko, Via Carota and EmpellĂłn Midtown.

seeking the prestigious award — known as the Oscars of the culinary world.

The awards will be presented May 6 at the Lyric Opera in Chicago.
