Kelly Hurley Dies One Week After East Village Crash

Kelly Hurley, a 31-year-old Lower East Side resident, has died from her injuries after a crash that left her in critical condition.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A bicyclist has died from her injuries about a week after she was struck by a box truck while riding her bicycle in the East Village, authorities said.

Kelly Hurley was pronounced dead Wednesday, according to a statement from the NYPD, one week after the crash that left her in critical condition. Police said last week that a box truck collided into Hurley as she turned left at First Avenue and Ninth Street on the morning of April 5. Hurley, 31, suffered head injuries and was transported to Bellevue hospital, police said.

The 59-year-old driver of the box truck remained at the scene last week, police said at the time. Police continue to investigate and no arrests have been made.
