Drunken Driver Critically Injures Man In Houston Street Crash: Police

A 21-year-old man was found lying on East Houston Street Monday morning after getting hit by a Chevrolet Camaro, police said.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A drunken driver hit a man on an East Village street early Monday morning and left him in critical condition, police said.

Michael Deguzman, 49, slammed his Chevrolet Camaro into a 21-year-old crossing East Houston Street near First Avenue about 2:50 a.m., according to police.

Deguzman, of Queens, also hit a Honda CRV, injuring himself, his two passengers, the Honda driver and the 21-year-old, police said.

Emergency responders found the 21-year-old, who suffered a head wound, lying in the street and rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, police said.

The drivers and passengers, all in stable condition, were also taken to Bellevue, police said.

Later that day, police charged Deguzman with driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired.
