Man Fatally Struck By L Train In Manhattan, Police Say

Police did not know how the man came to be on the tracks and in the path of the train.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A man was struck and killed by an L train on Monday night in the East Village, police said.

The man, 57, was fatally struck by a train at the 14th Street and Third Avenue station, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. He was pronounced dead in the station at about 10:20 p.m. Authorities have not yet identified him.

A police spokesman said it was unclear how the man came to be on the tracks, and that the incident remains under investigation.
