A man in his thirties was found unresponsive in Tompkins Square Park on Sunday morning, police said.
EAST VILLAGE, NY — A man was found dead in the East Village's Tompkins Square Park on Sunday morning, police said.
A person walking in the park spotted a man unconscious on the ground about 8:17 a.m., and called the police, NYPD said.
Police arrived shortly after and found a man in his thirties, unconscious and unresponsive, NYPD said.

Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and an investigation is ongoing, police said.

Police sources told AMNY that there were no apparent signs of foul play, and that law enforcement believed the man might have suffered a drug overdose.
The identity of the man is pending proper family notification.
