Man Struck And Killed On East Village Section Of FDR Drive: Police

The vehicle that struck and killed the man drove off afterward, leaving the NYPD to investigate what happened, police said.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A man was struck and killed in a hit and run on an East Village section of the FDR Drive, police said.

After responding to a 911 call on Sunday about 7:45 p.m., NYPD found an unidentified man laying on the roadway with severe trauma to the body, police said.

An investigation uncovered that an unspecified vehicle was traveling south on the FDR, when it struck the man and chose not to remain on the scene, police said.

The FDR Drive does not have a section for pedestrians, and police did not say why the man might have been on the roadway.

The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is continuing the investigation.
