NYU Student Reaches $29 Million Verdict After 2008 Fire-Escape Fall

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A former NYU student won a $29 million verdict in a lawsuit she filed after she was paralyzed in a fall from an East Village fire escape, the New York Post reported. For more news from the East Village, sign up for Patch news alerts here.

In 2008, Anastasia Klupchak fell from a fourth-floor fire escape of an East Village building. Klupchak, then a student at New York University, was paralyzed in the fall, and filed a lawsuit against the building 's owners, the East Village Associates.

The New York Post reported the $29 million verdict on Wednesday.
