Preet Bharara's Upcoming Lecture At Cooper Union Has Sold Out
Former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara is scheduled to speak at Cooper Union in April, and the event has already sold out.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Preet Bharara's upcoming talk at Cooper Union has sold out due to "overwhelming demand," the organization said on Monday, two days after the federal prosecutor was abruptly ousted by the Trump Department of Justice.
Bharara is scheduled to give a lecture at the East Village school on April 6. The event is free but requires tickets, and Cooper Union said on Monday that the talk had already sold out.
Bharara was fired from his position as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York on Saturday, he said in a statement. His abrupt firing came after the Department of Justice asked 46 US attorneys from the Obama era to resign. Bharara, who said last year that President Donald Trump told him he could keep his job, refused. Deputy U.S. Attorney Joon Kim will serve as acting U.S. Attorney for the district, according to the office.

Bharara was famous not just as the head of one of the nation's most powerful districts but also for aggressively tackling political corruption in both parties.
