VIDEO: 'Haunted Subway' Shares A Horrifying Ride On The Rails
The NYPD's Transit Unit and the MTA transformed part of the subway station into a hall of horrors.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Talk about a nightmare commute.
The NYPD and MTA kicked off their "Haunted Subway" in Union Square station Thursday packed with a gory cast of characters that made straphangers shriek with terror.
"I screamed my head off. My heart is pounding right now," said Tameka Weiss, 17, a senior at Washington Irving High School who went through with friends. "That guy with the chainsaw got me good, I basically ran out of there after that."

A father who escorted his 10-year-old son through the hall of horrors called the event a "serious scream fest."
"I have to say, that was better than I expected," said Andrew Segel, who lives in Hell's Kitchen with his wife and son.

The eerier experience, which runs from Thursday, Oct. 18 and Friday, Oct. 19 from 4-7 p.m., is the first in what the NYPD's Transit Unit hopes will become a Halloween tradition, said the commanding officer of the NYPD's Transit District 4.
"Just seeing the reactions is great. I think we did a pretty good job of scaring people," said Captain Anthony Guadagno, who smeared his face and arm with fake blood and gore for the affair. "I think it's being received well and, hopefully, we'll be able to do this again."
