Union Square Offers Free Movies for the Next Two Thursdays

Just bring a blanket to Union Square Park to watch "The Goonies" and "Grease" on the big screen.

The summer isn't complete without at least one outdoor movie experience, and Union Square has two opportunities for you to do that for free before the season is over. On this Thursday, they'll be showing The Goonies in the park for outdoor viewers, and the Thursday after that, August 11, they'll be showing Grease.

The films, sponsored by Citi, will be shown in North Plaza in the park near 17th Street from Broadway to Union Square East. The event description recommends you bring a blanket or mat to sit on. Park seating opens at 6:30 p.m., and the movie starts at dusk.

There's dinner and dessert available for order at the park from The Pavilion if you wanna snack on something while you watch. There's a $10 dinner tray with quinoa salad, pita crudité, hummus, and pesto pasta and a $6 cookie box with milk and cookies. You can preorder food by emailing thepavilion@chefdriven.com.
