19-Year-Old Caught With Glock Handgun During Hamptons Traffic Stop: PD

The Glock was loaded; he also had 2 large capacity magazines, containing live ammunition, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY β€” A 19-year-old was arrested after he was found with a loaded handgun during an East Hampton traffic stop, police said.

According to East Hampton Village police, the incident took place on August 31 at about 8:20 p.m. An East Hampton Village police officer observed the driver of a 2003 blue Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling south on Main Street with multiple vehicle and traffic violations, police said.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and observed an AR-15 style rifle in plain sight, police said.

The driver, Alexis Ramirez-Reyes, 19, of Bridgehampton, refused to comply with officers' instructions, refused to be handcuffed, and reached for a loaded Glock handgun in his waistband, police said.

Upon further investigation, the rifle was found to be an airsoft pellet gun, police said.

Ramirez-Reyes was also found to be in possession of one loaded Glock 19 handgun and two large capacity magazines containing live ammunition, police said.

Ramirez-Reyes was arrested and held overnight for arraignment, police said. On Friday, he was indicted on charges including one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon; a Class C felony; two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony; one count of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor; and one count of unauthorized colored lights, a traffic violation, police said.

Ramirez-Reyes was arraigned at East Hampton Criminal court on September 1; he was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Suffolk County correctional facility, police said.
