Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

  1. Celebrate Hanukkah all across town and at home. Temple Adas Israel will hold a first-night lighting at 6 p.m. at the windmill on Long Wharf in Sag Harbor. The next seven nights will feature virtual services with Temple Adas Israel at 6 p.m. each night. Temple members will have received emails containing direct links to the Zoom services. (East Hampton Star)
  2. Bestselling Books Of 2021 At East End Bookstores. In spite of the digital sales juggernaut, local brick-and-mortar booksellers continue to thrive in the Hamptons and North Fork, and that’s because our community continues to read! We asked some of our favorite bookstores what books sold the most this month and in 2021, and they happily supplied their top three bestsellers for both. Take a look and see if any of them might pique your interest to read by the fire this holiday season. (Dan's Papers)
  3. Bridgehampton squatter leaves artist's home after public outcry. A Bridgehampton artist who struggled for more than a year to oust a house guest-turned-squatter finally has her home back. Lynn Matsuoka, 75, says the man who had been occupying her spare bedroom for 15 months without permission finally packed up and left earlier this month without saying a word. She credits public outcry in Southampton and Sag Harbor, where demonstrators appeared outside of her home calling for Solomon to leave, with getting him out. (New York Post)
