Comedian Kevin Israel Headlines At Hampton Lifeguard Association Event

The 2nd Annual "Cheers to Waterproofing" event honors local water people and "unsung heroes of the sea," organizers say.

AMAGANSETT, NY — The Hampton Lifeguard Association is set to host the second annual "Cheers to Waterproofing", an event honoring local water people and "unsung heroes of the sea."

The event takes place on Saturday, July 20 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the historic Amagansett Lifesaving Station, and features a live comedy show with comedian Kevin Israel, accompanied by dinner with wine and beer.

All tickets purchased are automatically entered to win a raffle item — a Latitude Physical Therapy private Pilates session, with a $250 value.

All proceeds will benefit the Hampton Lifeguard Association for the mission of "waterproofing the South Fork of Long Island."

Kevin Israel has worked with some of the top acts in the nation. He has appeared on NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX. He guest hosted the Sirius Satellite Radio RawDog comedy morning show; he also won the prestigious Gilda Radner’s Laugh-off in 2013. Currently, he co-hosts the "Gutting the Sacred Cow" podcast and has some "big projects on the horizon," his bio said.

The mission of the Hampton Lifeguard Association is to "waterproof Long Island's South Fork and beyond through education and training," the group said. "In order to promote the safe use and enjoyment of our many water resources in all communities, HLA provides assistance and participation in water safety programs and lifeguard activities that maintain well-being for its members and the surrounding communities."

HLA, a not-for-profit founded in 1992, said it upholds a "high standard of lifeguarding, through training and lifeguard competitions for all age group programs."

HLA is a charter member of the United States Lifesaving Association, a nonprofit professional association of beach lifeguards and open water rescuers that sets national standards for lifesaving.
