Coming Up: Rowdyween, Hamptons Road Rally

This week brings Halloween, the first of November and plenty of events around East Hampton.

MONDAY

TUESDAY

Town Board: The East Hampton Town Board will hold a work session at Town Hall at 10 a.m.

Film Screening: "20 plus 2," a 1961 film, will be shown at the East Hampton Library at 5 p.m.

ZBA: The East Hampton Town Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a work session and public hearings at 6:30 p.m.

Pierson Auditorium Renovation Meeting: An informational meeting about the auditorium will be held at 7 p.m. There will be a short presentation about the substandard conditions and deficiencies of the existing space and a presentation of the schematic design for the new space. This meeting is open to all members of the Sag Harbor Community and will be held in the Pierson MS/HS Auditorium.

WEDNESDAY

Essential Oils Class with Jolie Parcher: Jolie Parcher will offer a class on essential oils class at Mandala Yoga in Amagansett from noon to 1:30 p.m. The class will focus on facial creams/serums. Another class will be offered on Nov. 6, focusing on delicious body scrubs to help get you through the winter. Price: $90 for both or $50 for a single class.

Mini Trick or Treat Night: The Montauk Library invites kids to stop by anytime from 5 to 7 p.m. for treats, trivia, and a scavenger hunt. Get an
extra treat for checking out a book with your library card.

Sci Fic Book Club: The club will meet at 6 p.m. to discuss "Starfish" by Peter Watts.

What Adults Need To Know about Bullying: The Amagansett Library will hold a workshop that explores how peer meanness is manifested, what research tells us about bullying, and how adults can help the bullied, the bullies, and the bystanders. Begins at 6 p.m. Register in advance.

Alex & Ani's Charity by Design to benefit The Retreat: You're invited to a Charmed by Charity event at Alex & Ani in Southampton, from 6 to 8 p.m., to benefit The Retreat with 15 percent of all sales going to The Retreat, the only domestic violence agency on the East End.

East End College Athletics Night:
Southampton High School hosts a panel of local college coaches as well as parents and players who have gone through recruiting process. Begins at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

THURSDAY

Halloween

Haunted House: Neoteric Fine Art presents Benjamin Barnes 'Shady Cottage', a "haunted house" based on the actual true history of the gallery's building at 208 Main St. in Amagansett. The 'Shady Cottage' will be an interactive experience featuring many historical and infamous Amagansett personalities and an interwoven mystery on Halloween from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 11 p.m. Costumes encouraged. Price: $10

Rowdyween: Rowdy Hall in East Hampton will hold their 14th annual “Rowdyween” party on from 8 p.m. to midnight. A $30 admission fee at the door entitles revelers to one complimentary drink, passed hors d’oeuvres, drink specials, $5 drafts and $5 well drinks, and a DJ spinning tunes all night. There will be $500 in prizes awarded for the best costumes. Music by DJ Tone Tigga, and Anthony from WEHM is going to be broadcasting live from the courtyard from 3 to 5 p.m.

FRIDAY

Art Show: The second annual "Life in the Abstract" show will be exhibited at Ashawagh Hall in Springs from Nov. 1 to 3. Artists include John Haubrich, Fulvio Massi, Barbara Groot and Dru Frederick. In opening reception will be held Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.

France Uncorked: The Living Room Restaurant at c/o The Maidstone along with Park Place Wines & Liquors, both in East Hampton, will host France Uncorked, a special five-course wine pairing dinner featuring acclaimed French wines on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The menu will be presented by Chef Mathias Brogie. Price: $145 per person. Reservations are required as space is limited to 20 seats.

Frankenstein: National Theatre Live’s 2011 broadcast of Frankenstein returns to cinemas as part of the National Theatre's 50th anniversary celebrations at Guild Hall in East Hampton at 8 p.m. Price: $18, $16 members

SATURDAY

Great Hamptons Road Rally: Jim Shelly & Georgica Services are organizing the 'Great Hamptons Road Rally' in memory of fellow rally enthusiast Jon Auerbach. The Rally, a 120-mile course that will take approximately 4.5 hours to complete, starts and ends at the Hayground School in Bridgehampton. Open to Sports Cars of any age, the vehicle must be street legal. Open to the public from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Price: $125 entry fee, entries are limited.

CDCH FALL FESTIVAL: Rain or shine, the Child Development Center of the Hamptons will hold a fall festival at the school complete with bounce castles, carnival games, face painting, balloon animals, a bake sale, and more from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Price: $5

Mindfulness and Today’s Dads: Claude Soffel, Certified Life Coach and Founder of The BraveHeart Institute, will lead an open discussion for parents on Mindfulness and Today’s Dads at the East Hampton Library at 11 a.m. Participants will gain insights and clarity on the value of purposeful fathering and the ultimate benefits to the family, the mom/dad relationship, and most importantly, the children.

Backyard Bird Brunch: Discover the most popular seed to feed your backyard birds at Hither Hills State Park in Montauk at 11 a.m. Explore the different types of feeders, which seed is best in each, and which birds prefer which type of feeder. Match the bird to the feeder, then to the seed. Make your own feeder to take home and bunch with your backyard birds. Price: $4-adult, $3-children ages 3-17, Under 3 Free; Parking free.

Author Talk: Victor Colaio, author of "Between Two Bridges," about growing up on the lower east side of New York City from The Great Depression to the beginning of 1960, will speak at the East Hampton Library at 1 p.m.

Montauk Point State Park Hike and Seek: A two-hour hike that starts at 1 p.m., participants will "seek" out items from a list that includes plants, animals, and other objects. Price: Parking Fee, $8; Adventure Fee: $4-adult, $3-children ages 3-17, Under 3 FREE
