Here are the top stories today in East Hampton:

  1. The Drug Abuse Resistance Program, or D.A.R.E., a program that teaches youth good decision making about drugs, was reinstituted in the Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School after a 14-year absence. On Thursday, the Southampton Police Department held a D.A.R.E. graduation at Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School. Each sixth grader received a proclamation congratulating them on their successful completion of the program. (Southampton Patch)
  2. Metropolitan Airport News reported that, Suffolk County approved the lease agreements of two companies that will comply with the Francis Gabreski Airport's master plan for aviation development at the airport. (Metropolitan Airport News)
  3. Now that the weather is warmer, there is so much more to do on the East End! Take a look at the events and activities for kids and family this week, April 14–18. (Dan's Papers)
  4. The Hildreth’s Home Goods, of Southampton (and East Hampton) was added to the Historic Business Preservation Registry which honors and promotes shops that are at least 50 years old and have made significant contributions to their communities. Hildreth’s was founded in 1842 and calls itself, "the oldest department store in the United States." (Subscription: Newsday)
