Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

  1. East Hampton area pets up for adoption. Meet Ella the dog who is waiting to meet you! Or you may consider fostering. Offering a needy animal a safe, comforting and supportive environment while she waits to be adopted, helps socialize a shelter pet to enhance her adoption potential. (East Hampton Patch)
  2. Who's hiring in the East Hampton area? This week’s newest job openings include marketing, logistics as well as customer service and sales. If you don't look, you will not find, so take a look at what jobs are available in our neighborhood. (East Hampton Patch)
  3. According to Dr. Christopher Gobler of Stony Brook’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences in his annual State of the Bays address April 6, data on Long Island shows that summers here are warming faster than the global average. (East End Beacon)
  4. It took the jury four hours to convict Leniz "La Diablita" Escobar in the deaths of four young men in Central Islip on April 11, 2017. Prosecutors convinced the jury that Escobar was both "bait" that lured the young men into the park that day and the “mastermind” who helped plot the quadruple slaying. Escobar, 22, is facing life in prison for what police described as one of the most gruesome murders in Suffolk County’s history. (Subscription: Newsday)
  5. Stony Brook Heart Institute is one of only five elite sites nationwide and the only facility on Long Island to be chosen to take part in the first-phase clinical trial for PerQseal in advance of submission for approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). "The PerQseal device is the first suture-less, fully-absorbable intravascular ‘patch’ that seals an artery from the inside after heart valve repair or replacement. PerQseal has an enhanced bioabsorbable patch that is designed to address more complex patient anatomies," wrote Newsday. Congratulations Stony Brook! (Stony Brook News)
