Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

1. Start your New Year with an adopted pet from the Hamptons area shelters! Animal shelters in the East Hampton area have dogs, cats and other pets ready and waiting for someone to take them home. (East Hampton Patch)
2. Alec Baldwin: 2022 should be a year of "less negativity." The "It's Complicated" star went on to reveal that his goal for 2022 is to leave behind the "negativity" that affects him. Baldwin explained how he has been in touch with some "well-known people" about different ways to "attain a state of mind" that has no place for negative thoughts, including meditation. (NewsKudo)
3. New York on the last day of 2021 recorded its highest one-day total of new coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. Long Island’s test positivity rates were higher than any other region in the state at nearly 23 percent, outpacing even New York City, which recorded a nearly 21 percent test positivity rate. Drive-up PCR tests are available at Peconic Bay Medical Center’s Mercy campus, 1225 Ostrander Ave. Appointments can be made online here. (RiverheadLocal)
