Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:
- Nova, Max, Mit & more! Are you a dog person? If you're on a search for an adorable new friend, consider checking out a local adoption agency like Animal Rescue Fund Of The Hamptons Inc, where Dit the dog is waiting patiently. Or if cats are more your thing, there are several great cats available, too. (East Hampton Patch)
- Dominick Parisi, 57, a Hampton Bays man, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the Christmas Day shooting death of a man in his Southampton home, police said. Steven Byrnes, 53, of Roses Grove Road in Southampton, was identified as the man killed in his home on Dec. 25, police said. (Southampton Patch)
- Southampton Town Police patrol units, community response units, bay constables, and the Suffolk County Police Department aviation unit responded to help find a missing kayaker from Southampton. John Jackman, 55, was found Sunday and later died, police said. According to Southampton Town Police, a call came in at 6:23 p.m. about Jackman, who went out kayaking on Shinnecock Bay with his dog but never returned. The dog returned without Jackman, and the search commenced. (The Patch)
Doing a "Dry January" or just looking for a flavorful alternative to regular cocktails? Here's a suggestion: try a non-alcoholic drink from our partners at Betera. Created by an award-winning chef from natural botanicals, Betera's drinks come in 3 flavors β Ginger-Orange, Elderflower-Lime and Rhubarb-Hibiscus. We tried Ginger-Orange, and it was excellent β lightly effervescent, floral with a hint of bitterness and the sippability of a cocktail.
