Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

  1. The power couple Jay-Z and Beyoncé wanted the 2.7 acres of prime waterfront land at 18 Jones Creek Lane in East Hampton that Ana Meier, daughter of architect Richard Meier, and her husband Daniel Creighton were selling. Though there were multiple offers, the owners made a deal with the Peconic Land Trust for preservation. Originally listed for $11.75 million, the property just closed for $8.5 million. (New York Post)
  2. The Peconic Jitney wants to start service again since its trial run, a decade ago. The village boards whose jurisdiction includes the two landing sites, Long Wharf in Sag Harbor and Mitchell Park Marina in Greenport, have yet to schedule a vote on the contract to finalize the route. Sag Harbor village trustees will reportedly hold a public hearing on the ferry May 10, Greenport is still in question. (Dan's Papers)
  3. The town said this week, when the East Hampton Airport reopens as a private facility next month, it will have all the “safety and operational capabilities” it currently has. The FAA released a statement Wednesday saying the agency “is working closely with the town of East Hampton so all federal regulations are followed to ensure the safety of the airspace.” (Subscription: Newsday)
