  1. Long Island has seen its coronavirus positivity rate spike past 8 percent this week, even though the holiday season is not yet in full swing. Gov. Kathy Hochul warned weeks ago that with the delta and omicron variants, combined with holiday gatherings and unvaccinated individuals, would create a perfect storm. (East Hampton Patch)
  2. There are several holiday drives happening now in the Hamptons: East Hampton Kiwanis Toy Drive, Sag Harbor Kids Need Warmth Coat Drive and Boy Scout Troop 483 Drive Thru Canned Food Drive are three to check out. (Dan's Papers)
  3. On Jan. 3, 2022, Jeremy Samuelson, a longtime resident of East Hampton, will be appointed Planning Department head. Samuelson was the former executive director of Concerned Citizens of Montauk and Nature Conservancy Mashomack Preserve director.
