  1. Town officials said that the construction of the satellite emergency room facility in East Hampton could begin as early as this winter. The satellite emergency room will offer a full array of emergency treatment and diagnostic capabilities, including CT scans and X-rays, a trauma room, as well as cardiac monitoring and ultrasound, and blood laboratories. It is expected to be staffed by up to 15 employees, 24 hours a day. The hospital has said it hopes to have the facility up and running by 2023. (SagHarborExpress.com)
  2. Daniel Campbell, now 20, of Montauk, was charged after a hit-and-run crash in Amagansett on Aug. 10 that led to the death of an 18 year old. After Campbell drove off the victim was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he died, police said. Campbell was indicted on one count of leaving the scene of an accident without reporting, a felony, according to his attorney, Edward Burke, Jr. (Patch)
  3. Along with the continued fight against the pandemic, Gov. Kathy Hochul's 2022 State of the State address centered on initiatives geared toward kickstarting New York's comeback. It included expanding the state's health care workforce, tax relief, an investment in infrastructure, wind energy, and a focus on addressing climate change. Hochul outlined nine key components of her agenda, including rebuilding the health care economy; protecting public safety and taking strong action against gun violence; investing in New York's people; investing in New York's communities; making New York's housing system more affordable, equitable, and stable; making New York a national leader in climate action and green jobs; rebuilding New York's teacher workforce and reimagining higher education; advancing New York's place as a national equity model — and making critical reforms to restore New Yorkers' faith in their government.
