East Hampton Police Accepting Applications For Citizens' Academy
The spring session is slated to begin on Wednesday, March 5.

EAST HAMPTON, NY β The East Hampton Town Police Department announced this week that their 2025 Citizen Academy is now accepting applications.
The spring 2025 session is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 5.
The Citizenβs Police Academy is a 10-week program that offers participants insight into how East Hampton Town police officers perform their duties and serve the community, officials said.

The sessions will include presentations on crime scene investigations, special victims, laws of arrest, the unmanned aerial systems unit, the emergency services team, the dive team, virtual firearms training, DWI investigations and traffic stops, use of force, hate crimes, domestic violence and more.
The program will also include a tour of the police station, a ride-along with a police officer, an evening at the SCPD firearms training section, as well as a chance to experience the emergency vehicle operations course.

"It is the goal of the police department that graduates leave the academy as more informed citizens with an 'insider's' view of our local law enforcement functions and operations," officials said.
The free, interactive 10-session training program will run one to two times per week from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. between March 5 and May 14.
"We encourage residents to join us for this unique experience designed for East Hampton Town community members to gain greater insight into law enforcement and a working knowledge of the values and operations of the East Hampton Police Department," said East Hampton Town Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez.
The course is limited to those who live in the Town of East Hampton, are 17 years or older, and have a valid driverβs license. All applicants will be subject to a background check. The application submission deadline is Wednesday, February 26.
