Here are the top stories today in East Hampton:

  1. Hamptons Holiday: Why You Should Be Here In The Winter. Holiday in the Hamptons takes on a new kind of magic, which is entirely unlike New York City or the Upstate regions. Known for the vineyards that line the North Fork and the high-end designer stores that line the South Fork, both convey certain magic during the winter that's unparalleled. From seeing how the other half lives to visiting vineyards that are turned into winter wonderlands, see why holidays in the Hamptons are the best. (TheTravel)
  2. Town Of East Hampton: Free Webinar On Green Heating And Cooling Solutions. Free webinar on Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m., presented by EH Town's Energize East Hampton program, will provide information on improving energy efficiency by using cleaner and greener heating and cooling technologies. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Shoeboxes Full Of Holiday Cheer. Donate shoeboxes filled with joy. Each shoebox should contain a couple of small or medium-sized toys, like stuffed animals, balls, dolls, or action figures; educational or creative supplies such as books, workbooks, crayons, paints, and colored pencils; and personal items such as socks, gloves, hats, toothbrushes, combs, or reusable water bottles. Donors should also include a personal note to the recipient, and can include a family photo as well. Boxes should fit into one of three age ranges: 2 to 4, 5 to 9, or 10 to 14. No liquids, glass items, or items containing choking hazards will be accepted. Packages should be decorated in green for girls, red for boys. They can be dropped off Tuesdays through Fridays between noon and 5 p.m. at the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center, 551 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, through Dec. 22.
