Man Backs Up Vehicle Into Police Car, Resists Arrest In Hamptons: PD

He refused to be handcuffed, police say.

WAINSCOTT, NY β€” A Hampton Bays was arrested in Wainscott on New Year's Day after he backed up into a police car and resisted being handcuffed, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at about 3:38 p.m. on Town Line Road after Hermino Giminez, 64, was stopped for a traffic violation.

While officers tried to interview him, Gimenez failed to comply with a lawful order of Southampton police; he also backed up his vehicle, striking the front end of a marked Southampton Town police car, authorities said.

Gimenez then refused to be handcuffed, police said.

Gimenez was arrested and transported to the Southampton Town police headquarters for arrest processing; he was charged with obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor, and several traffic violations, police said.

He released on a desk appearance ticket, police said.
