“Music and Art in Concert." Free Film Series @ East Hampton Library

The East Hampton Library, in conjunction with The Hamptons Festival of Music presents a film series entitled "Music and Art in Concert."

The East Hampton Library and The Hamptons Festival of Music present a six part series entitled “Music and Art in Concert." A selection of Academy Award Winning or nominated short documentaries. Music related films have been paired with an art related short to complement the viewing experience. The screenings are FREE of charge. Seating is limited, so please register by calling (631) 324-0222 ext.3 or by emailing reference@easthamptonlibrary.org. Registration is also available through Eventbrite.com. The screening schedule is as follows:

Academy Award Winning Documentary Screening: "Close Harmony" followed by a Q/A with Producer, Director Nigel Noble.

The film chronicles how a children's choir of 4th- and 5th-graders at the Brooklyn Friends School and elderly retirees at a Brooklyn Jewish seniors' center combine to give an annual joint concert. The New York Times, John J. O'Connor called Close Harmony "the kind of production that whizzes by dazzlingly, leaving the audience drenched in smiles and tears and hoping for just a bit more". Close Harmony won the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) at the 54th Academy Awards.

Academy Award Nominated film “A Concerto is a Conversation” and Academy Award Nominated film “Christo’s Valley Curtain”

At only 13 minutes in length, this film manages to express much about race relations in a powerful, yet gentle manner. The film will be paired with the Maysles brothers’ “Christo’s Valley Curtain”, a look into the planning, design and installation of this incredible Christo and Jeanne-Claude spectacle.
