  1. State of Emergency declared as NY prepares for Omicron variant. "The Omicron variant has not yet been detected in New York, but 'it's coming'," Governor Kathy Hochul said yesterday. "The vaccine remains one of our greatest weapons in fighting the pandemic, and I encourage every New Yorker to get vaccinated, and get the booster if you're fully vaccinated." (The Patch)
  2. French bulldog, Stella, stolen in burglary found in Center Moriches. The owners say 5-year-old Stella was stolen from their home while they were away during Thanksgiving. Police say the thieves came into the house through an unlocked door. The dog was found on Rhododendron Drive. She has been returned to her owners. (News 12 Connecticut)
  3. Past meets future with LIU's Digitizing History Project. Started about five years ago, the groundbreaking and important “Digitizing Local History Sources” project has successfully brought more than 65,000 pages of historical materials from 45 participating Long Island historical societies into the bright light of the world wide web.
