Southampton Shooting Injures 3, Search On For Gunman

The shooter fired from a vehicle into a crowd β€” one man remains in intensive care, Southampton Village Police say

SOUTHAMPTON, NY- Three men were injured, one critically after shots were fired on Hillcrest Avenue in Southampton Village Monday, police said.

According to Southampton Village Police, the shooting took place at 5:56 p.m.; police received multiple calls of shots being fired at the scene.

When police arrived, they found three men injured after having been struck by several ”blasts” fired from a shotgun that was discharged from a vehicle into a crowd of people standing in the roadway, police said.

The shooting victims were transported by private vehicles to Southampton Hospital where one of the victims remains in the intensive care unit, another is still recovering from injuries and the third was discharged, police said. Police did not identify any of the victims.

Members of the New York State Police and their reconstruction team, as well as members of the Southampton Town Police Department are assisting in the ongoing investigation, police said.
