Wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour are expected Saturday, the NWS says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Friday's storm has moved out across Long Island, but the Saturday is still expected to bring high winds and a drop in temperatures.
According to Jay Engle, meteorologist with the National Weather Service Office in Upton, Friday night's rain brought about 1 to 2 inches across Long Island, with 1.35 inches in Islip, 1.82 inches in Upton and 1.14 inches in Westhampton.
"For the rest of the day, we'll have gusty winds, especially as we head toward the afternoon," Engle said. Sustained winds are expected to be around 20 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts of 35 to 40 miles per hours.

Temperatures Saturday morning will range in the high 50s but cool air will move in later in the day, with temperatures plunging possibly to the 20s Saturday night, he said.
Snow could be headed to Long Island later in the week "but there's still a lot of uncertainty" about that forecast, he said.
