See how much snow is expected to blanket Long Island this weekend and how it will impact Super Bowl Sunday.

LONG ISLAND, NY — With snow headed for Long Island Saturday, here's a timeline of what to expect.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter weather advisory remains in effect across Long Island from 5 p.m. Saturday through 11 a.m. Sunday.
James Tomasini, meteorologist with the NWS office in Upton, told Patch that the snow is expected to start as early as 4 p.m. or 5 p.m., becoming moderate to heavy at around 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sometime around midnight, the snow will become mixed with sleet, he said.

Sunday morning, Long Islanders can expect a mix of freezing rain, tapering off from west to east at about 7 a.m., with the precipitation ending by about 10 a.m., Tomasini said.
Snow accumulation is expected to total 2 to 5 inches and, because of the chance of freezing rain, a glaze of ice accumulation is expected, Tomasini said.

Motorists should slow down and use caution while driving, the NWS said.
