Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:
- Missing Westhampton Beach Teen. Lesli Roxana Morales Suy, 17, is Hispanic, approximately 4 feet 8 inches tall, 125 pounds with brown eyes and long black hair. She was last seen wearing black pants, a black shirt and black sweater. Lesli speaks fluent Spanish and does not understand English. Detectives are asking anyone with information on Lesli's location to call 911 or the Westhampton Beach Police Department at 631-288-3444. (Smithtownmaters.com)
- Wind Farm Work Begins In 2022. Work on the onshore portion of the cable landing for the South Fork Wind Farm, a 12-turbine offshore wind farm 35 miles off of Montauk, is slated to begin in January 2022, with the entire project expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2023. The horizontal sea-to-shore drilling is slated to drill about 85 feet underneath the beach and into the duct bank, which will be set northward of the parking lot to the beach, allowing full beach access throughout the project. For more information on how the route may affect your property, call 631.887.5470, email info@southforkwind.com or follow the project on Twitter at @southforkwind. (East End Beacon)
- Fish Market Managers Plead Guilty To Fraud, Conspiracy. The captain and fish buyer conspired to take at least 74,000 pounds of fluke, also known as summer flounder, to market. Fluke is a highly regulated species and has long been a source of contention among federal fisheries officials, recreational and commercial fishing advocates, and the representatives of the Mid-Atlantic and New England states. As part of the plea deal for the company, Bob Gosman Co. Inc. agreed to pay a fine of $50,000 and be placed on probation for four years. (East Hampton Star)
