Last-Minute Fashion Options Abound in Farmingdale

Downtown promoters say there's plenty of places to shop for great last-minute gifts.

Just in time for the holidays, a new fashion boutique, Thomas Ellen has just opened in Farmingdale Village.

They join Solo Fashion New York, which opened in 2011, making downtown a fashion destination, promoters say.

Ellen Johansen, formally a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, decided to follow her inner passion and started Simply Glamour Fashion in 2008, first selling Fashion Sterling Silver jewelry. Within two years she expanded to fashion clothing.

Ellen’s Fashion Jewelry pieces have been featured on The Today Show, Good Morning America and Extra. She decided to expand her concepts and venture into a retail storefront and chose Farmingdale Village for her boutique store.

“I love Farmingdale Village and my mission is to offer a wonderful shopping experience for children, teens, adults and seniors," she said. "Traveling the world to find unique product lines, we offer a wide selection of quality items for everyone’s budget."

Some of the brands Thomas Ellen carry include Free People, DL denim, Feel the Piece, Steve Madden, Sorial, Big Buddha & Spartina 449 handbags to name a few. The Fashion Jewelry includes Ellen's own line “The Kariana” from Thailand, Crysalis from the UK, Lampberger from Paris, Kameleon from Canada and Swarovski Crystal pendants from Israel and Brazil.

The eclectic store features a baby boutique and carries gifts, candles,
housewares, gourmet foods and seasonal items.

Thomas Ellen is located at 317 Main Street and offers a front and rear entrance with plenty of free parking.

While downtown, promoters urge a stop at "Solo."

Anna Ryn opened Solo Fashion New York, a trendy boutique located at 336 Main Street in April 2011. Solo sells contemporary and missy fashion, jewelry and fashion accessories. Solo carries designers such as Tahari, Bebe, BCBG, Enan and Free People.
