FIRE ISLAND, NY β€” A boater who went missing near Fire Island earlier this month is a Manhattan doctor facing up to 30 years behind bars after federal authorities charged him in a $100 million health fraud scheme.

Martin Moy, whose boat was struck by a commercial vessel on Oct. 12, is still missing, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed to Patch.

After arriving at the site of the collision, the U.S. Coast Guard found one of two people. That person was rescued around 7 a.m. Thursday and taken to a local hospital for non-threatening injuries, officials said.

In January, federal prosecutors said Moy was among 13 people charged in a $100 million healthcare fraud, money laundering, and bribery scheme.

Moy conducted "unnecessary and painful electrodiagnostic testing on patients", helping the scheme collect at least $70 million, from billing insurance companies for fraudulent medical treatments, Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said at the time.

He faced up to 30 years in prison for charges of healthcare fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy, a news release said.
