2 Firefighters Injured Battling House Fire In Valley Stream

The building was unoccupied at the time, police said.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — Two firefighters were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment after suffering injuries while battling a blaze Tuesday night on Garland Lane, Nassau police said.

Officers responded to a fire at 1 Garland Lane at 11 p.m. and found visible flames coming out of the house. The building was unoccupied at the time.

The Valley Stream Fire Department along with several additional fire departments responded to extinguish the fire. Two firefighters suffered injuries and was transported to a local area
hospital for evaluation and treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The building suffered moderate structural damage along with varying degrees of smoke, fire, and water damage, police said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal and Arson Bomb Squad detectives also responded. While the cause of the fire is not yet determined, it was deemed not suspicious at this time, police said.
