Altered Treasury Check Leads To $470,000 In Losses For Nassau Bank: Police
He faces charges of grand larceny and criminal possession of forged instrument, police say.
VALLEY STREAM, NY — A Brooklyn man was taken into custody after a larceny that led to more than $450,000 in losses for the bank, police said.
Marc Lindor, 44, entered the Capital One Bank at 750 Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Lindor deposited an altered U.S. Treasury check in the amount of $1.7 million, police said.

He made numerous withdrawals, causing a loss of $470,000 for the bank, authorities said.
An investigation was conducted in conjunction with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office and US Postal Inspectors.

It was determined that Lindor intercepted a legitimate check in the mail and altered it to
reflect his name, officials said. He was arrested without incident, police said.
Lindor was charged with first-degree grand larceny, second-degree grand larceny, and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, police said.
He was scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
