Here are the top three stories today in Five Towns:

  1. A Sea Cliff woman was arrested for giving a 17-year-old a COVID-19 shot without his mother's permission. Laura Parker Russo, 54, is accused of injecting the teen and has no medical authorization to administer vaccines. (Patch)
  2. Hofstra University has announced it will begin requiring a COVID-19 booster shot for students and staff within seven days of becoming eligible, starting Jan. 18. SUNY and CUNY schools are also requiring boosters. (News 12)
  3. Bruce Blakeman was sworn in on Monday as the 10th Nassau County executive at a ceremony at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City. Also sworn into office were Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips and Nassau County Clerk Maureen O'Connell. Around 400 people were in attendance for the ceremony. (Patch)
