  1. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman wants a Russian-owned compound in Glen Cove shut down. He made an announcement at the historic mansion used by Russian diplomats as a holiday retreat on Saturday morning. (News 12)
  2. A new federal class-action lawsuit alleges that Grumman, between 1950 and 1994, released thousands of pounds of hexavalent chromium and more than 1 million pounds of trichloroethylene, or TCE, into the atmosphere. (Subscription: Newsday)
  3. A Freeport woman, Alicia Ray has created a website called Black Owned Long Island that connects consumers with Black-owned businesses on LI. (News 12)

  • Inwood resident Krystal Mackey created a free youth basketball clinic called the Five Towns Legends at the beginning of February, open to girls and boys of all ages to provide kids in Inwood and surrounding areas. (LI Herald)
  • Nextdoor Neighbor, Hewlett/Woodmere: "Need a good hair stylist in Nassau. Preferably one good with creating short for curly, gray hair. Hair stylist recommendation?" (Nextdoor)
  • East Rockaway native triplets, Ellen, Diane and Lizbeth Hamsley turned 60 in February. The identical triplets grew up in the village and starred in ads for baby clothing, banking, pizza, toilet paper, makeup and other products and services from the 1960s through the 1980s across the U.S. (LI Herald)
