Car Stolen From Cedarhurst Parking Lot: Police

The driver left the keys in the car while he went into a Parts Authority store on Rockaway Turnpike, police said.

CEDARHURST, NY — A Queens man was taken into custody for stealing a car on Tuesday in Cedarhurst, police said.

Just before 9 am., officers responded to the Parts Authority store on Rockaway Turnpike for a report of a stolen vehicle, police said.

A 52- year-old male victim parked his 2002 Chevrolet outside of the store with his keys in the ignition and entered the store, authorities said.

Upon returning the victim noticed his vehicle was missing and called 911. During a search of the area, detectives located the victim’s vehicle parked in a parking lot off Brookville Boulevard in Rosedale, police said.

Quentin Ferguson, 28, was spotted in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and was arrested without incident, police said.

He is charged with third-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, police said.

Ferguson was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
