Here are the top three stories today in Five Towns:

  1. State Sen. Todd Kaminsky, a Democrat from Rockville Centre, announced in a statement on Wednesday that he will not seek re-election or any other office in the fall. Kaminsky lost his bid for Nassau County District Attorney last year. (Patch)
  2. An Island Park man is facing a charge of DWI-Leandra's Law after crashing into a parked vehicle while allegedly intoxicated. Christopher Stoger, 41, was driving on Marina Place near Long Beach Road with his 4-year-old daughter when he struck three vehicles in total. (Patch)
  3. An out-of-control tanker truck carrying thousands of gallons of gas crashed into a liquor store in Rockville Centre and then burst into flames. It happened around 1:15 a.m. at North Centre Avenue and Sunrise Highway. (News 12)

  • Hewlett High School had a record-setting performance last weekend at the Nassau County Division 1 championships at Nassau Community College, placing 8 on the All-County podium the most of any team, and finishing third behind Wantagh and Massapequa, the school's best finish ever. (LI Herald)
