Nassau Home Sustains 'Considerable Damage' From Fire: Police
One resident was taken to a hospital in stable condition, the East Rockaway Fire Department says.

EAST ROCKAWAY, NY — A East Rockaway home sustained considerable damage from a fire on Saturday, police said.
Officers responded to the Third Avenue residence. One person and his dog were met at the front door, and it was discovered that another person may be inside on the second floor, the East Rockaway Fire Department said.
Firefighters searched the home and escorted the second person to safety, the East Rockaway Fire Department said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal and Arson Bomb Squad also responded to the scene. The Red Cross responded to assist. One resident was transported to a local area hospital in stable condition, the East Rockaway Fire Department said, police said.
The blaze was brought under control within 30 minutes, fire officials said.
