- An attempted scam of an elderly person started in New Mexico and ended in Valley Stream. An 84-year-old woman in New Mexico was called by a man who said he worked for Best Buy's Geek Squad, and she was told to send $14,900 to an address on Mulberry Place in Valley Stream where Monira Chowdhurry, 50, of Queens, was arrested in front of the home. - Tsipporah Lowenstein, 3, and her aunt, uncle, and nine cousins endured a 50-hour trip from the Ukraine to New York City last week with just one clothes-filled suitcase. Students and staff members at the Hewlett- East Rockaway Jewish Centre donated Amazon gift cards to "adopt" and buy supplies for the family. (LI Herald)
