Elmont School To Honor MLK With Special Community Event
It takes place at the Elmont Memorial High School.
ELMONT, NY — To honor the life of Martin Luther King Jr., a day of community service is planned in Elmont.
Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Center (HERJC), Valley Stream’s Church of the Harvest and Elmont Memorial PTSA are colloborating to shine a light on the legacy of Dr. King.
On Monday, Jan. 20 — Martin Luther King Jr. Day — Rabbi Michel Schlesinger and Pastor Curtis Thompson will open the program with words of gratitude.

Held at Elmont Memorial High School, the event will focus on King’s inspiring messages of hope, togetherness, volunteerism, shared experiences and making the world a better place.
Community service projects include making sandwiches for a local food pantry; collecting and sorting books; making cards for U.S. veterans, current military and hospitalized children; creating snack bags for food insecure children and creating school supply bags.
