Here are the top three stories today in Five Towns:
- A fake call to 911 sparked a police response at a Hempstead middle school on Monday. A call was made to 911 at 1:30 p.m. with a threat to the students and staff at Lawrence Road Middle School, part of Uniondale School District. The caller said they were being held hostage in a classroom by a man with a gun, according to police. (Patch)
- New York State Supreme Court Judge Thomas Rademaker lifted the state's mask order on Monday, but Hewlett and Lawrence school districts continue to require mask wearing in their buildings. (LI Herald)
- Long Island Jewish Valley Stream hospital has a new medical director, Dr. Hsiang-chi "Angel" Meng. She was the associate medical director, physician adviser and hospitalist at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. (Subscription: Newsday)
