  1. Newsday has the details on $300,000 in federal funds that the Town of Hempstead has allocated to feed families in need this holiday season. Meals will be distributed through the Interfaith Nutrition Network's Mary Brennan Soup Kitchen. (Subscription: Newsday)
  2. The Daily Voice has the story on a noose found at a Nassau County work site for the second time. An employee at the PSEG Long Island and National Grid site found a rope hanging from the company's facility on Mill Road in Hewlett that was in the shape of a noose.   3. Jerry Barmash reports that a young boy was airlifted to a hospital after being hit by a car in North Merrick Wednesday, on Merrick Avenue near Camp Avenue Elementary School. (Patch)
  4. Newsday explains that Long Beach city are holding a series of hearings to determine whether it will authorize selling legalized recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older.
