Here are the top three stories today in Five Towns:
- Dino Tomassetti, who allegedly shot his parents in their Hewlett Harbor home on Christmas Day, was indicted on Monday. The charges were: two counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of the child. - Three people robbed a store and attacked a clerk in Bellerose Terrace on Saturday morning.
Police are looking for information about two men and one woman who entered It's Lit Smoke Shop, at 225-06 Jamaica Ave. and assaulted an employee. (Patch) - Hempstead Town is using a $300,000 state grant to try to increase the oyster population at Inwood Marina. The section of Jamaica Bay, which borders Kennedy Airport, has been affected by years of pollution and efforts in recent years have added 50,000 needed oysters so far. (Subscription: Newsday)
