  1. A man who scammed residents in Hewlett and the Five Towns has been arrested this week. Christopher Picone, 32, began offered snow removal services and vhandy work in December, contacting at least 15 people, who paid in advance. He then didn't show up and disconnected his phone. (LI Herald)
  2. Nassau County Republicans announced their list of candidates Friday. Hempstead Councilman Anthony D’Esposito is running for Congress and Jack Martins is seeking to reclaim his seat in the State Senate. The party's platform is to reduce crime by repealing cashless bail and adding funding for police, cutting gas taxes, and a plan to reverse a $1 billion commuter tax. (Subscription: Newsday)
