Here are the top three stories today in Five Towns:
- A personal trainer from Brooklyn was arraigned on Long Island on Wednesday on attempted murder charges, accused of shooting his parents on Christmas morning in Hewlett Harbor. Dino Tomassetti reportedly was angry about the custody of his infant son. (CBS New York)
- Nassau County Police announced they will be stepping up road patrols on New Year's Eve. All officers will be out looking for impaired drivers. (CBS New York)
- A man was killed after being hit by two cars in Freeport Wednesday night and one of the drivers fled. The 32-year-old man was crossing Henry Street at 6:20 p.m. when he was hit by an SUV. While he was lying in the street, he was hit by a sedan that was also heading south, and that driver fled and is being sought by police. (Patch)
